Cycliq Fly12 Sport FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Fly12 Sport shut down unexpectedly during a ride?
Unexpected shutdowns are typically caused by three built-in features or a memory card error. Idle Mode automatically shuts down the camera after 15 minutes of detecting no movement — you can disable this in the CycliqPlus app. Incident Protection Mode triggers when your bike tilts past 60 degrees for more than 5 seconds, records for a set period, then powers off. MicroSD card incompatibility can also cause shutdowns if the card cannot write data fast enough — use a V30-rated, high-endurance card formatted to exFAT.
What MicroSD card does the Fly12 Sport require?
A 64GB microSD card is already included in the box, so you can start recording straight out of the package. If you ever need to replace or upgrade it, the Fly12 Sport requires a V30 (Video Speed Class 30) MicroSD card. Choose high-endurance lines designed for continuous dashcam write cycles (e.g., SanDisk Endurance, Kingston Endurance). Format to exFAT using the on-device menu. Standard consumer-grade cards can suffer write failures under continuous loop recording.
Why is my Fly12 Sport battery life shorter than the advertised 7 hours?
Runtime varies significantly based on light mode. The Fly12 Sport delivers up to 7 hours in camera-only mode, but drops to approximately 3 hours 45 minutes on high steady light at 400 lumens. Cold temperatures and complex visual scenes also increase processor load. Expected camera-only runtime at 1440p@30fps is up to 7 hours.
Why does my Fly12 Sport show a green charging light but drop battery immediately after unplugging?
This is typically a battery-management firmware calibration issue. First, format your MicroSD card to exFAT. Verify you are using a standard 5V/1-2A wall charger (up to 10W) — high-voltage fast chargers can trigger safety shut-offs. If the issue persists, locate the reset button under the port cover, press it, then fully drain and recharge the battery in one uninterrupted cycle to recalibrate the battery meter.
Is the Fly12 Sport waterproof?
The Fly12 Sport is IP56 certified, meaning it is protected against powerful water jets from any direction. It is designed to handle heavy rain during rides. Note that IP56 is not rated for submersion — avoid submerging the device. Ensure port covers are fully sealed before riding in wet conditions.
Can the Fly12 Sport record in 4K?
Yes, the Fly12 Sport can record in 4K, but this mode is limited to 24fps. For most cycling safety use cases — particularly license plate capture — the default QHD (1440p) at 30fps provides better practical results than 4K at 24fps, which can appear stuttery during handlebar movement.
Does the Fly12 Sport work without the CycliqPlus app?
The Fly12 Sport can record without the app — power it on and it begins loop recording automatically. However, the CycliqPlus app is required to change settings, transfer footage wirelessly, apply firmware updates, and enable Strava metric overlays. Basic operation is app-free; advanced configuration requires the app.
