Ripoon FAQ - Q100 PRO Rear Camera Light & Q101 PRO Front Camera Light for Bicycles
Recording & Video Quality
What is the recording resolution of the Pro models?
Both the Q100 Pro (rear) and Q101 Pro (front) record in Full HD 1920 x 1080p at 60fps. While the documentation mentions "2K," the specific output is 1080p, which is optimised for high-speed motion capture.
Why does Ripoon use 1080p @ 60fps instead of 4K?
For cycling safety, frame rate is more important than raw resolution. Recording at 60fps captures twice as many frames per second as standard 30fps cameras, significantly reducing motion blur to ensure licence plates are readable even at high speeds.
What is the default frame rate setting?
⚠️ Important Notice: The user guide currently states the default recording setting is 60fps. This is an error in the printed guide and will be corrected in the next batch. The actual default setting is 30fps.
The default is set to 30fps so that users get more footage, especially when their SD card capacity is limited. Here's a comparison of storage capacity under each setting:
- 30fps — approximately 100 files (5 min per video), totalling around 9 hours of footage
- 60fps — approximately 60 files (5 min per video), totalling around 5 hours of footage
You can manually change the frame rate in the camera settings if you prefer 60fps for smoother motion capture.
What is the field of view for the lenses?
Both cameras utilise a wide 140° field of view with an f1.5 aperture, ensuring a broad perspective of the road and better performance in low-light conditions.
Does the camera record audio?
Yes. Both the Q100 Pro and Q101 Pro include a built-in microphone to capture audio alongside the video footage.
My Ripoon camera lens appears foggy or has condensation — what should I do?
Due to the CNC aluminium metal enclosure of the Pro cameras, condensation can occur at the camera lens protection area when there is a significant difference between internal and external temperatures combined with high humidity. The dashcam body is fully shielded except for the ports, which means moisture can occasionally accumulate inside.
To resolve this, turn the camera off, open the TF card slot and USB-C port covers, and place the camera in a well-ventilated environment at moderate temperature to dry naturally. Alternatively, use compressed air to gently blow out the moisture. Do not use heat sources such as hair dryers.
Pro Series Upgrade
How do the Q100 PRO and Q101 PRO differ from the original Q100 and Q101?
The Q100 PRO and Q101 PRO are pro upgrades to the original Q100 and Q101 models, featuring an improved design, significantly increased battery capacity (3500mAh), and enhanced mounting options for greater versatility on the bike.
Memory & Storage
What happens when the memory card is full?
The cameras use seamless loop recording, which automatically overwrites the oldest footage with new recordings while safeguarding any files locked by the incident protection system.
What is the maximum MicroSD card size supported?
The Pro models support MicroSD cards with capacities up to 128GB.
Incident Protection
How does "Smart Incident Protection" work?
The integrated G-sensor detects sudden impacts or falls. It then automatically locks the current video and audio files to prevent them from being overwritten during loop recording.
Battery & Charging
What is the battery capacity of the Pro cameras?
The Pro series features a significantly upgraded 3500mAh rechargeable battery, providing extended endurance for long-distance rides.
How long can I record on a single charge?
- Q100 Pro (rear): Up to 9 hours of continuous recording in flash mode.
- Q101 Pro (front): Up to 5 hours of continuous recording with the safety light active.
Waterproofing
Are the cameras waterproof?
Yes. Both the Q100 Pro and Q101 Pro feature an IPX7 waterproof rating, making them resistant to heavy rain and mud. The Q10 Magnetic Light has a superior IPX8 rating.
Safety Lights
How bright are the integrated safety lights?
- Q100 Pro (rear): 100-lumen LED light.
- Q101 Pro (front): 400-lumen LED designed for high visibility.
What are the available light modes?
- Q100 Pro: Flashing, smart, and steady modes.
- Q101 Pro: Steady, smart, flashing, and an "off" mode for daytime recording.
Dimensions & Weight
What are the dimensions and weights of the Pro units?
Both units measure 82 x 44 x 28 mm. The Q100 Pro weighs 100g, while the Q101 Pro weighs 110g.
Q10 Magnetic Light
What makes the Q10 Magnetic Light different?
The Q10 is an ultra-light (26g) safety light with an IPX8 waterproof rating and a high-quality CNC-engineered aluminium housing. It uses a magnetic quick-release system for effortless attachment and removal.
How long does the Q10 Magnetic Light last?
The built-in 300mAh battery provides up to 26 hours of runtime in slow flash mode and 12 hours in fast flash mode.
Does the Q10 include a brake light feature?
Yes. Both the slow and fast flash modes on the Q10 include an 80-lumen brake light function for increased safety during deceleration.
How does the Q10 manage its power efficiently?
The Q10 features "Smart Power Saving," which automatically powers the light off after 30 minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life.
Where can I mount the Q10 Magnetic Light?
Its versatile mounting system allows it to be attached to seat posts, bike frames, saddle bags, backpacks, or even cycling apparel.
