Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Magene S314?
The Magene S314 is a compact ANT+ and Bluetooth speed and cadence sensor. It can be configured to operate in either Speed Mode or Cadence Mode, making it a versatile single-unit solution. It attaches to your bike crank arm (cadence) or wheel hub (speed) and is compatible with a wide range of cycling computers, smartwatches, and training apps.
Does the Magene S314 measure speed, cadence, or both?
The S314 can measure either speed or cadence depending on which mode it is configured in. It operates in one mode at a time — Speed Mode or Cadence Mode. You can switch between modes by reinstalling the battery or using the Magene Utility app. For simultaneous speed and cadence measurement, two S314 sensors are needed — one in each mode.
How do I switch the Magene S314 between Speed Mode and Cadence Mode?
Method 1 (Battery): Remove the CR2032 battery by twisting the cover counter-clockwise. Wait 5–10 seconds. Reinsert the battery with the positive (+) side up and replace the cover. Check the LED: Red = Cadence Mode, Green = Speed Mode. Repeat if needed. Method 2 (Magene Utility App): Download the Magene Utility App, ensure Bluetooth is on, spin the sensor to wake it, scan and connect to the sensor in the app, then navigate to Settings to change the working mode.
How does the Magene S314 attach to the bike?
In Cadence Mode, attach the S314 to the crank arm using the included rubber bands or adhesive mount. In Speed Mode, attach it to the wheel hub. No tools or external magnets are required — the sensor uses an internal accelerometer to detect rotation.
Is the Magene S314 compatible with Garmin Edge cycling computers?
Yes. The S314 transmits via ANT+ and Bluetooth, making it fully compatible with Garmin Edge computers including the Edge 550, 850, and 1050, as well as Magene bike computers such as the C606 V2, C606 Pro, and C706.
Does the Magene S314 work with Zwift and other training apps?
Yes. The S314 connects via Bluetooth to smartphones and tablets running Zwift, TrainerRoad, Strava, and other popular training apps. It also connects via ANT+ to compatible head units and dongles.
What battery does the Magene S314 use and how long does it last?
The S314 uses a CR2032 coin cell battery with a typical life of 12 months or more under regular use. The battery is user-replaceable.
Is the Magene S314 waterproof?
Yes. The S314 is water-resistant and suitable for use in rain and wet conditions.
How do I pair the Magene S314 to my bike computer?
Install the S314 on your crank arm (cadence) or wheel hub (speed) and rotate to wake the sensor. On your bike computer, go to Settings > Sensors > Add Sensor. Select Cadence or Speed depending on your configured mode. The computer will scan and detect the S314 — select it to pair. Your chosen metric will then display during rides.
