Frequently Asked Questions
How do the 8 electrodes work?
The intelli8 Body Composition Scale has four contacts for your feet and four on the handheld bar. With contact at both hands and feet, multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) measures impedance across five body segments: the left arm, right arm, trunk, left leg and right leg. The app uses these readings to estimate body composition.
Is the 8-electrode scale safe to use?
BIA uses a low-level electrical current. Do not use the intelli8 Body Composition Scale if you have a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or another active electronic medical implant. If you are pregnant or have a health condition, consult a qualified professional and follow the supplied product instructions before use. Body composition readings are for general wellness, not diagnosis.
What is the accuracy compared to other methods?
Eight hand-and-foot contacts provide segmental measurements instead of relying only on a feet-to-feet measurement. Body composition values are BIA estimates and can change with hydration, meals, exercise and measurement conditions. BIA and clinical assessments such as DEXA use different methods, so their results are not interchangeable. Compare readings taken under consistent conditions and seek clinical assessment when appropriate.
Why is timing important for consistent readings?
Hydration, meals and exercise change how electrical current passes through the body. Measure at a similar time and under similar conditions, preferably in the morning after using the bathroom and before food, coffee or exercise. Consistency makes trends easier to compare.
What body metrics does the scale measure?
The intelli8 App report includes body composition, muscle and fat analysis, weight-control analysis, muscle balance and segmental fat analysis. Measures include weight, body fat, skeletal muscle, body water, protein, bone mass, BMI, visceral fat, basal metabolic rate, fat-free body weight, subcutaneous fat, metabolic age, skeletal muscle index and waist-to-hip ratio. Both arms, both legs and the trunk have their own segment results. BMR estimates energy used at rest, not total daily calorie needs; bone mass is not a bone-density test. Body composition values are estimates, not diagnostic tests.
How often should I weigh myself?
Choose a repeatable schedule that works for you. Daily measurements can show normal fluctuations; weekly measurements can also help track longer-term change. Look at the pattern across several readings, rather than treating one measurement as a verdict on your progress.
Is the smart app required to use the scale?
The built-in display shows weight alongside body fat, BMI, muscle mass, body water, bone mass and visceral fat without opening the app. Use the intelli8 App on iOS or Android for the detailed body composition report, five-segment analysis, measurement history, and PDF export and sharing. The weight range is 5–180 kg, with a 0.1 kg display increment; that increment describes the weight readout, not body composition accuracy.
How many user profiles can the scale store?
Manage multiple personal profiles in the intelli8 App. Select the correct profile before measuring so that readings stay with the right person. Follow the app's profile settings and the supplied instructions when setting up another user.
What battery type does it use, and how long does it last?
The intelli8 Body Composition Scale uses four AAA batteries. Battery life varies with usage and battery quality. Follow the battery-compartment markings and the instructions supplied with your unit when replacing batteries.
Can I use the scale if I have wet feet or the floor is wet?
No. Use the intelli8 Body Composition Scale barefoot with clean, dry feet on a firm, level, dry surface. Water creates a slipping risk and can affect the measurement. Keep the device and floor dry and follow the care instructions.
What makes an 8-electrode smart body scale better than standard scales?
A standard bathroom scale measures weight. Many four-electrode body composition scales take a feet-to-feet reading and estimate upper-body composition. The intelli8 Body Composition Scale adds hand contacts so it can measure impedance across both arms, both legs and the trunk. This provides muscle and fat estimates for each body segment alongside whole-body results.
How does segmental analysis help with fitness and health goals?
Segmental analysis lets you review estimated muscle and fat distribution across both arms, both legs and the trunk. Compare left and right sides and follow changes in each body segment alongside your training and whole-body trends. It provides context for a conversation with a coach; it cannot diagnose an injury or guarantee a training outcome.
How does the Advanced AI Coaching feature work?
AI coaching is planned, not available in the current intelli8 App. The intended direction is to explain body composition trends in natural language and relate them to goals you set. Today, you can review your measurements, follow your history and export or share your report.
What kind of personalized recommendations does the AI coach provide?
Personalized AI recommendations are not part of the current release. Future coaching is intended to help explain trends and support goal-based discussions about training and everyday habits. The scope and availability will be confirmed when those features are released.
Does the AI coaching adapt to my fitness goals over time?
Goal-aware coaching is on the intelli8 App roadmap. It is not a live feature today, and this website does not promise a release date. Current users can set goals and review body composition trends in the app.
Can the AI coach integrate with my fitness apps and wearables?
Not in the current intelli8 App release. The app currently connects to the intelli8 Body Composition Scale. Additional wearables and Apple or Google health-platform connections are planned. IAM is a separate professional product and currently supports WHOOP and Polar.
